I used to hate doing taxes.
Like, really hate it.
The first time I did them, my mother (a finance type) left me alone for five whole minutes to do some simple calculations on my own. When she came back, I had clearly done something wrong, and showed her the figures I had showing what I would owe if I were 65 and blind.
True story. {Cringe.}
Now, though, thanks in part to my Money Book, where I keep track of everything I spend in a year, I actually find doing my taxes a rather fun (yes – I may be crazy) activity. At the end of every year, I love the act of adding up exactly what I spent and saved. Doing taxes seems a natural extension of that – and doesn’t seem hard at all!
Although I’ve tried some of the free services out there, I have settled on just filling out the forms with my good old pencil pen.
